Introduction: Starburst Wrapper Chain

This is a super cute chain you can make out of gum or starburst wrappers. Save the wrappers and ask your friends and family to carefully open theirs and add to your collection!

Step 1: Smooth Wrapper

if you want your wrapper to be easy to work with, you can put it under a book or lightly iron it between two towels. Or you can just smooth it out with your hands :) it's ok if the wrapper has minor rips.

Step 2: Precreases

You may notice that your wrapper already has a crease folded in half and 1/4. If the creases are unclear, just recrease them. *If you know how to fold the paper into thirds, skip the next few steps*

Step 3: Fold Up to the Crease

Fold Edge Marked "A" to the marked crease.

Step 4: Fold to Edge

Fold side Marked "B" to all the way to the edge of the paper. It will overlap a bit but that is fine. We have just folded the wrapper into thirds.

Step 5: Fold in Half

Fold the two long ends together so you get a skinny strip. Hold the wrapper tightly because it might slide and not line up.

Step 6: Fold in Half

Fold in half again, but this time put the short ends together. you may have to smooth the middle out a little

Step 7: Put Two Sides to the Center

Fold the two short edges to the center crease.

Step 8: 1 Link- Done!

Make some More links

Step 9: Anatomy of a Link

This is very important when making a chain FIRST, you will notice each link has a side that has many flaps/pockets and just two flaps. We are ONLY using the side with JUST TWO FLAPS

Step 10: Link Your Links ^^

Insert Link A's Two Flaps into Link B's two flaps. If the Pocket is too small, you can use a pen tip or something thin and sharp to widen the hole. Pull through Adjust Press Flat

Step 11: Repeat

Repeat until its long enough for you :) You can make so many things out of the chain (earring necklaces rings) Or you can connect the links in different ways to make things like squares or hearts. Be creative :)
