Introduction: Stewed Fruit for a Sore Throat

About: A fitness Instructor, active mother of 3

This remedy is LOVE & COMFORT in a bowl from MOMs all around the world.

My mom never wasted anything in the home and this remedy was wonderful for sore throats before, during and after recovery of colds, swollen gums or post surgery for young and old who would not be able to chew solids.

I used bruised pears which otherwise wouldn't be consumed by picky family members but, when cooked, stewed fruit fills the home with wonderful sweet aromas and then everyone wants to have some.

Make a big batch because this is a great low cal, healthy dessert or breakfast item.

Any bruised fruit will do, just adjust the honey.

Step 1:

Use any bruised fruit that is about to spoil. Perfect fruit is great too!

Apples, peaches and plums can be stewed.

Manuka honey is a antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, full of minerals, and has electrolytes (gives you energy).

Sugar will do as a sweetener if you don't have honey. Honey I not recommended for babies.

You'll need:

1-2 lbs of pears (full of vitamins, fiber, water, minerals)

3-4 tbsp. honey

1 cinnamon stick (helps control blood sugar levels and aids in digestion)

1 star anise (optional, this is for flavor)

* I have made this without spices and it's great natural as well*

Step 2:

Peel, core and cut into halves or quarters.

Fill a medium sized pot 3/4 full with water

Add the spices and honey.

Step 3:

Bring the pot of water to a boil.

Immediately lower the heat and stew on low until fruit is fork tender.

This process can take anywhere from 10min to 30min depending on the ripeness of the fruit and your heating element.

Step 4:

This stewed fruit is a great treat hot or cold and can be mixed with other fruits and berries for a dessert.

Cold: soothes teething gums, wisdom teeth removal or tonsillitis

Enjoy with love!
