You are going to love this dish. It looks incredible, such a show stopping centre piece for any party you host, but it takes very little time to make, meaning you can spend as much time as possible with your guests.

Make this for Christmas, Thanksgiving or even for a summer BBQ, such a versatile dish for any occasion. Of course you really need to love cheese for this one.

Let's get started shall we?

Supplies

As you can see you don't need many ingredients:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry
  • 16 slices of dry cured ham (think prosciutto, serrano, bayonne or speck)
  • Green pesto
  • Red pesto
  • Cheese for baking (I used Mont du Massif Jurassien but camembert would work really well)
  • 1 egg (as a pastry wash)

UNTENSILS:

  • Baking tray
  • Scissors
  • Spoons
  • Knife

Step 1: Prepping the Pastry

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. First you need to cut out a hole in each of the pastry sheets.
  3. Use a knife and the cheese box to cut out the exact size. You'll use this extra pastry to make something else to dip.

Step 2: Start Filling

  1. Alternating segments, fill sections of one sheet of pastry with the red and green pestos.
  2. Afterwards layer on the ham slices, trying not to overlap too much, but making sure you cover the entire surface.

Step 3: Making the Sunshine

  1. Add the second sheet of pastry on top of the pesto and ham.
  2. Using the scissors, cut small segments around the edge of the pastry ring, making sure not to cut all the way though to the middle.
  3. Afterwards take two segments and twist them towards each other and press together.
  4. Lightly beat an egg and brush all over the pastry wreath.
  5. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 30-35 minutes until the wreath is nicely risen, golden in colour and the cheese melted.
  6. With the cut out circles you can add additional ham and create mini wreaths to dip into the cheese.

Step 4: Enjoy the Wreath

By now the cheese should be nicely melted. Cut through the crust of the cheese and move it aside.

Next pull off one of the segments and dip into the melted cheese.

Enjoy!
