Introduction: Super Dutch Oven Breakfast Extreme

Breakfast is an amazing meal, especially when enjoying the great outdoors.  Most of the time when I've been camping we have pancakes, sausage, eggs and bacon.  But what if you want MORE than just that?  And what if all you've got is a dutch oven?  Well friends, you're in luck.  You're about to learn how to make Super Dutch Oven Breakfast Extreme.  What IS Super Dutch Oven Breakfast Extreme?  Why it's a simple combination of delicious foods designed satisfy your hunger on those chilly mornings whilst camping.

Step 1: Ingredients

Food
1 package of Hash Browns
Pam (not sure this is really a food...)
1 package of Bacon
1 package of Sausage
1 cup of Green Peppers
1 cup of Red Peppers
1 cup of Onions
12 Eggs
1 package of Colby Jack Cheese
Salt and Pepper
A handful of mushrooms (optional)
Some chopped cilantro (optional)

Tools
1 Dutch Oven
1 bag of charcoal
1 Charcoal starter (optional)

Step 2: Steps 1 and 2 - Reading the Dutch Oven and Scramblin' Those Eggs.

Start by getting your charcoals lit.  This will get them nice and hot while you get everything else ready to go.  I used a medium sized dutch oven and you'll want to have enough charcoal to keep the top and bottom nice and hot.

With your charcoals lit you can then prepare the Dutch Oven by coating it with some Pam or butter.  Make sure it's evenly coated.

Now it's time to scramble the eggs.  I like to scramble the eggs thoroughly so that there aren't any whites left.

Step 3: The First Three Layers

With your charcoals getting hot and your eggs scrambled it's time to start adding the layers.

Layer 1
Add your Hash Browns.  Make sure you've got the bottom nice and evenly coated, then salt and pepper the hash browns.

Layer 2
Add bacon.  You can't go wrong with bacon.

Layer 3
Add Sausage

(Optional Step)
When the meal is finished you'll note that the sausage is somewhat pale and the bacon looks more like ham.  This is normal and if you'd like you can cook the bacon and sausage a little before you add them.

Step 4: The Veggie Layer

Next up, it's time to add the vegetables.  I like to add green and red peppers to give it a little color.  Here's the rundown:

Layer 4
Green Peppers - Make sure you get them evenly spread around

Layer 5
Red Peppers - Make sure these get spread around as well

Layer 6
Onions - See the previous two layers' instructions on evenly spreading around

One more layer to go...

Step 5: The Final Layer

All that's left is the final layer and we're ready to cook!

Layer 7
Add in the eggs and you're all set!

Sprinkle a little salt and pepper to top it all off, then let's get this bad boy sealed up!

Step 6: Let's Get Cooking

Cook Time
About 45 minutes

Get the Dutch Oven on top of a good amount of charcoals, then place some on the top as well.  Cook for about 45 minutes.  Once it's complete we've only got one more step (unless you want to add mushrooms).

Add the cheese
Sprinkle the cheese over the top of the now cooked meal, then place the lid back on top for a few minutes.  This will cause the cheese to melt and now it's time to eat!

Step 7: The Final Product

Grab a spoon and dig in!  We've added some mushroom and cilantro for additional flavor, and with that you're ready to enjoy some Super Dutch Oven Breakfast Extreme.
