Introduction: Super Easy Shawl
This shawl is very easy and quick to make! I made it to match the dress I crocheted! All you need to know is how to crochet chain stitch and slip stitch! If you want a bit of a rim on the top like I have, you also need to know single crochet.
Step 1: Supplies
You need a size G crochet hook, some scissors, and of course, some yarn. I used about 6 ounces of DK weight (double knitting weight) yarn for this small shawl. You will want some more yarn if you are going to make this bigger than a child's size. You also need a little bit of yarn of a different color for the trim.
Step 2: Foundation
First you need to chain to the desired width. I chained about 125. Then do one row of single crochet (optional). Next, chain 4. Skip 3 stitches and do a slip stitch in the 4th. Continue this to the end of the row.
Step 3: Crocheting the Shawl
Now you should have a row of single crochet(or a chain) with a bunch of loops coming up. Chain 4 and do a slip stitch on one of the loops. Crochet 3 or 4 rows like this. At 4th(or 5th) row, increase by double the amount. That means that you should crochet 2 stitches in each hole instead of one stitch. Do this for a whole row. Complete the whole shawl with this stitch.
Step 4: Trim!
For the trim crochet 5 single crochet stitches in each loop. Then crochet a slip stitch. Do this for every loop. You now have a beautiful trim for your shawl! To finish, just weave in the ends.

Hi! I'm sorry I took so long to reply! Yes, you are correct. Only do the increasing for this 1 row. What you would do would be chain 4,slip stitch to loop, then repeat in same loop. Hope that helps! Please let me know if you need more help understanding this and I will post a video for this part. :)

crochet 2 stitches in each hole instead of one stitch. Do this for a whole row. Complete the whole shawl with this stitch.
Does this mean that you put 2 sc in each hole for the remainder of the rows or just this one row and then got back to only 1 sc in each hole?
