Super Easy Way to Remove and Reinstall the Crankshaft Pulley Bolt (Honda Civic 1999 D15B)

Most folks find it immensely difficult to remove this crankshaft pulley bolt on the honda civic 1999. I got me 3/4 inch tools:
40inch breaker bar.
16 inch extension.
17mm deep socket.

Also a can of powerlube makes life so easy.

I put the transmission in park, raised the car and removed the left front wheel.

Step 1: Lubing and Inserting the Pulley Holder.

The Honda pulley holder is mandatory for this job. It is a low cost tool and I got mine from Amazon.com. It uses a 1/2inch extension bar to provide the leverage.

I sprayed powerlube and let it soak for 10 minutes. Next I inserted the pulley holder.

Step 2: Removing the Bolt.

I inserted the deep socket on the extension bar and lowered the car so the extension rested on my safety jack stand. I didn't need to even raise the stand, that elevation is perfect.

Using the breaker bar I turned anticlockwise to get the pulley holder extension bar to jam on the floor.

Next I applied little force and the bolt turned! I did this with my right hand suffering from early carpal pains. It was that easy! Just the 40inch breaker bar and no cheat pipe!

Looking at the bolt you can see the last mechanic put locktite on the threads. The idiot! How dare he!

It took me less than 1 minute to remove that bolt with basically one hand of strength and 160lbs body weight.

Step 3: Reinstalling the Bolt.

I lubed the bolt threads and washer and put it back in using my torque tool. I used the pulley holder again and tightened the bolt 1/8 of a turn. There is no way it is ever gonna come out for a anticlockwise turning Crankshaft.
