Introduction: Toddler Veggie Craft - Peapod Pal

Fun and fast!

We did this as part of Veggie Storytime at our library, and the kids loved painting and then putting together their little friends!

Step 1: Start With a Paper Plate.

We cut these 6' plates down to about 4" for the kids.

Step 2: Assemble the Plate and Your "peas"

We used green pom-poms of different sizes and two different colors, because it's what we had. I have seen others use play-doh or wadded up construction paper, but they really don't look as nice.

Step 3: Paint the "pea Pod"

Have the kids paint their pea pods. We used green acrylic paint. They did a good job staying relatively clean.

We had a hair dryer for drying the paint (I did forget about drying time!)

Step 4: Ta-Da!

Glue wiggly eyes on the peas ( we did just one), glue inside the pod (glue sticks), and fold over and put a staple on each end to help retain the peas.

We also ate carrots and peapods - that's not her tongue!

Total time -a bout 15 minutes ( 3-4 year olds with parental help!)
