Introduction: Toilet Paper Roll Speaker and Phone Holder

Have you ever had the struggle of not having loud enough music for a party or a gathering? Or have you had the struggle of not having a phone holder? Well no more!! I’m going to teach you how to make a phone holder and a speaker from a cardboard toilet paper roll..

This creation is so great because if you ever need a speaker or phone holder it's cheap, quick, and easy. The things you need are stuff you can find around your house. The problem i’m solving is not having a phone holder or a speaker. Also spending money for expensive stuff that you can find around your house. My target audience for this project is the people that struggle with not having or wanting to spend a lot of money on speakers or phone holders.

These are the reasons why I decided to do this craft. It saves money, It is cheap and easy to do, and fun to make and you can find the things you need around you house.

This Instructable is just one of hopefully many to come from Dover Intermediate School in Westlake, Ohio. In Technology Literacy class students explore many components of technology. Instructables.com will help students share their work and experience in dreaming, planning, designing, making and documenting. We hope this to be just a start of some great ideas and creations. Step 1: Supplies and Tools

Things you will need:

  • Toilet paper roll
  • Wooden crafts sticks
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Paint and paintbrush (optional)
  • Washi tape or decorative tape (optional)
  • Phone

The tools you will need are scissors and paintbrush (only if you are painting your toilet paper tube) and a pencil. I used the tools I did because I had these tools around my house.

Step 2: Trace Cutout

First step is to trace the shape of the phone on the toilet paper roll

Step 3: Cut Phone Insert

Cut out the shape of the phone that you made on the toilet paper roll.

Step 4: Paint and Decorate Options

Time to personalize your speaker tube. Take some time to make it look special and personal to you.

  • Paint your toilet paper roll OR
  • Decorate it with the washi tape or decorative tape.

Step 5: Install Tube Feet

Next we need to install feet to stabilize the tube. With the feet the phone will be able to stand tall and roll forward or backward.

  1. Cut slits on the sides of the toilet paper roll to insert craft sticks as feet.
  2. Insert wooden craft sticks into the slits to act as feet.

Step 6: Install Phone and Play Music

Here is the easiest and most fun part of the project. Insert phone into cut out and play your music! Time to Rock!

The thing I think readers should pay attention to is where to put the slits so you put them in the right place. I learned that you can make really useful stuff for really cheap. There were not any challenges I encountered when i was constructing the phone holder and speaker. I received help from my dad, I asked him what should I do to make it stand and he said “You could use the craft sticks and make slits in one the sides of the toilet roll and slide them in the slits.” This is how to build a phone holder/speaker.

Hope you have fun making and listening to your new speaker.
