Introduction: Ultra Light Weight Cord Locks

About: If I can make it, repair it, repurpose it, reuse it and recycle it I am happy.

This is a short simple instructable for replacing cord locks on bags and clothing.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Depending on how light you wish to so you choose plastics to suit.
For this instructable I chose a clear clothes detergent bottle (1)PET, a white detergent bottle (02 PE-TD)and a fruit container (5).

You will also need a pair of scissors
A paper punch
and a ruler and marker.

Step 2: Material Blanks

You will need to cut flat pieces of plastic from you containers.

The ones shown would make many cord locks

Step 3: Layout, Cutting and Punching.

I will show how to make a single lock.  A little imagination will show you how to make multiple locks at the same time.

Using the metric guide layout your new cord lock.

Trim off excess plastic

Mark your center line and the position for punching either end of the lock

Punch your holes with the paper punch

Step 4: Finally

Double the draw cord you wish to lock.  Feed it through one hole and out the second.

Pull the cord through to tighten the bag or clothing.  To loosen slide the lock away from the closed position

These locks are so light individually they did not register on my scales.  The four I made in total still did not register.
