Introduction: Upcycled Tool Box

Fit all your tools in one easy to store container for cheap.

Step 1: Unused Tool Box

I have bought a lot of tools over the years and find that these tool boxes never get used to hold the original tools.

My brazing equipment was bouncing around in a shoe box and needed a new permanent home.

You can find these containers everywhere from garage sales to pawn shops for cheap if you don't have any on hand and don't want to buy a new tool.

Step 2: Remove Material

Remove all the plastic edges inside that kept the old tools from moving around.

Then you will add dense padded foam to both halves. Make sure its closed cell foam so your tools don't rust.

Closed cell foam is more plastic feeling and less squishy. The open cell foam (camping pad material) will trap condensation.

I used 1 1/2 inch foam recycled from a delivery of computer parts.

You can buy this foam in small sheets at any fabric store. Make sure you use the 60% off coupons.

Step 3: Arrange Tools

Arrange your tools in your new tool box and safely store them til you need them again.
