Let's start!

Supplies

Ingredients:

6 large slices of bread

2 bananas

3 tbsp. butter

4 tbsp. sugar

2 eggs

2 tbsp. milk

heart sprinkles (if desired)

Step 1: Flatten Bread Slices

Cut the edges of the bread slices, and then flatten them with a rolling pin. Set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Bananas

Cut the bananas in slices 5 mm thick. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a non-stick pan. Add the banana slices, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar, and cook aprox. 3 to 4 minutes, until they become soft. Set aside.

Step 3: Beat Eggs With Milk

In a mixing bowl, beat 2 eggs together with 2 tbsp. milk.

Step 4: Prepare the Hearts

Now you will need a special mold with heart-shaped hollows (these are normally used to prepare homemade filled pasta or stuffed pasta). Lay a slice of flattened bread so that it covers two adjacent hollows, and then fill each hollow with a spoon of the banana mixture you prepared on step 2. Brush edges with the mixture of egg and milk, and cover with another slice of flattened bread. Finally, roll the rolling pin over the bread so that the mold seals and cuts the edges of your hearts. Continue this way untill you have your 6 hearts ready for the next step.

Step 5: Dip Hearts

Dip each heart in the egg and milk mixture for a few seconds.

Step 6: Fry Hearts

Melt 2 tbsp. of butter in a non-stick pan. Add 2 tbsp. of sugar. Fry hearts on both sides until golden.

Step 7: Sprinkle With Sugar

Remove from pan and sprinkle with sugar.

Step 8: Serve With Love

Arrange the six banana-filled hearts on a small tray. Decorate with heart-shaped sprinkles (if desired). Now serve together with some tea or coffe. This Valentine's Day breakfast treat is ready to be enjoyed warm and in good company, so go ahead and surprise your loved one!
