These are easy to make rose scented wax melts that would make a lovely gift for any occasion!

Step 1: Ingredients

For this project you will need a silicon candy mold tray of your choice, dried rose petals, sparkles, mini cupcake liners, something to store them in, essential oils of your choice (I used rose and jasmine), shortening and candles. You can use just a candle and melt it down but if you don't have a big enough one, you can use smaller ones along with shortening.

Step 2: Fill Your Molds

The first step is to crush up your rose petals and add them along with the sparkles into your silicon molds. I tried to arrange the petals evenly on the bottom.

Step 3: Melt Your Wax

Make a double boiler by boiling a small amount of water in a pan and place a glass or metal bowl over the top, making sure the water doesn't touch the bottom of the bowl. Take your candles (removing the wicks and any aluminum pieces) and chop them up as small as you can. Add them to your bowl along with about 3 big spoonfuls of shortening. Patiently wait for everything to melt, stirring constantly. The consistency should be really runny!

Next, add as many drops of your essential oil as you like and carefully pour your wax into your molds. If you want your rose petals to stay on the bottom then pour very slowly, making sure they don't float around. I put mine in the freezer for about an hour to harden.

Step 4: Place in Cupcake Liners

Once they have hardened they should very easily pop out of the silicon! Place them in your cupcake liners then arrange in your container and you're done! Keep in mind that, if you are using shortening, they do hold their shape but are a bit slimey to the touch. This isn't a problem for me because I will melt them anyway but if you dislike that then I'd suggest using only candle wax!
