Introduction: Vintage Valentine Treat Jar

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

Give them the ultimate fresh take on an old-school valentine present with this vintage inspired treat jar!

Step 1: Materials List

To make this special jar, you will need:

  • Matte Mod Podge
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • burlap flowers
  • red 3D puff paint
  • color photocopy of vintage Valentine images
  • glass jar with lid
  • small flat-back crystal
  • spool of decorative trim
  • green velvet leaves
  • foam brush or large paint brush
  • scissors

Step 2: Prep Images

First, go to your computer and Google vintage Valentine images that you like. Choose your favorite and print it out. I chose this image with swans holding little hearts in their beaks and wearing roses around their long necks!

Step 3: Add Image to Jar

Next, cut out the image to fit within the size and shape of your glass jar. Then, glue it to the jar with Mod Podge, adding another layer on top to seal.

Step 4: Red Ribbon Trim

For decorations, begin by adding a strip of red decorative trim or ribbon around the top of the jar lid.

Step 5: Make Rose

Then, for the rose, add some red 3D puff paint to a burlap flower. Then, attach it to some green velvet leaves, all with a few dots of hot glue.

Step 6: Complete!

Now, it's ready to fill with treats and give to someone special for Valentine's Day!
