Welcome to my Instructable on how to make a water powered generator. it is quite simple and a lot of fun to make. Hope this is interesting and helpful.

Supplies

Things I used for this project:

1. a small bottle

2. two pieces of wood

3. a short length of wire

4.DC motor (for the generator)

5. an application for the generator (in my case a fan)

6. hot glue gun

7. soldering iron

Step 1: Bottle Cutting

Cut the bottle in half, remove the bottle cap and drill a small hole in the centre of the lid so the motor shaft can fit snuggly. Keep the other half of the bottle for later.

Step 2: Glue the Lid

You want to position the lid so there is just a little bit of the motor shaft poking through.

Step 3: Making the Paddles

Now you want to get the other half of the bottle and cut four pieces to make the paddles.

Once you have cut them to roughly equal sizes get the hot glue gun and glue them at a slight angle, as shown above.

Step 4: Test

Go to your tap and give it a quick test to see that it spins freely.

Step 5: Tap Placement

Now the main part is finished you can go to the tap to see how you could fit it to the tap so you don't have to hold it there, I used two bits of wood. I attached the turbine to the wood using a hot glue gun, so that when the tap turned on the turbine turned. You may have a different style of tap so you might have to have a bit of trial and error before it would fit nicely.

Step 6: Application

Now that it's finished, you need something to power. I used a fan that could run from the power of the generator, but you could use anything of your choice.
