Hello everyone!

In this instructables I'll show you how you can make some sailboats with regular wood and with a touch of old recycled skateboards. It's so fun to work with old skateboards, it"s so colorful and you get beautiful results!

Step 1: The Base

Transfer a pattern of a sailboat onto a piece of wood and cut it out on the bandsaw. Give it shape on the beltsander by holding the boat at an angle.

I used some scrapwood for my sailboats, so they are all different sizes.

The dimensions of my pattern for the boat:

18mm thick

40mm wide

140mm long

Drill an 8mm hole in the base for an 8mm dowel and sand it all smooth.

Step 2: The Skateboard-touch

Cut out a piece of an old skateboard, with the following dimensions: 20mm wide, 85mm long.

Drill an 8mm hole for the dowel to go through. Testfit and draw a shape you like on the skateboardpiece.

You can make your own dowel with a thread cutting die. Start with a piece of lumber 8mm x 8mm, and drive it through with the drill and you'll get an 8mm dowel.

Step 3: Finishing

A little bit of sanding to finish, and then you can glue it all together with woodglue.

Finish with some mineral oil.

Now you are ready to sail!
