Introduction: Your First Moroccan Lamb Stew

Hello! Today, I will be teaching you how to turn that into that. I am not an expert. You are not an expert. Let's do this!

Step 1: Here's What You Will Need:

It's a whole lotta stuff, but it makes a whole lotta stew.

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp ground ginger

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 tsp ground turmeric

1/8 tsp curry powder

1 tsp salt

1 lb lamb

1 sweet onion

3 large carrots

2 sweet potatoes

1/2 cup dried apricots

1 15 oz can garbanzo beans

1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes

1 14.5 oz can beef broth

1 14.5 oz can chicken broth

2 14.5 oz cans beef consomme

1 cup dried lentils

1 tbsp butter

1 tbsp honey

Step 2: Here's What You Will Do:

We're gonna prepare this baby the night before, and let some of the flavors mix with each other overnight in the fridge. I don't know if that helps. I just didn't want to wake up any earlier than I had to the next day.

Peel and cube the sweet potatoes.

Dice up the sweet onion, or just chop it like me cause even the sweet ones can make you cry.

Chop the carrots and throw the ends away unless you want your girlfriend to think you're some kind of savage.

Put everything in a big bowl, even though you'll have to pull the onions out individually tomorrow morning to cook with the lamb (optional.)

Step 3: Here's Some More Things to Do Before Bed:

Mix up all those spices. If you use ginger paste like me, it's gonna be all clumpy and weird. Shouldn'tve taken that shortcut.

Toss the lamb in there, then toss the lamb around in there, and really work that clumpy spice mess into it. Aim for even coverage and don't worry about what it smells like and how you might've messed up the delicate balance of spices; it's too late.

Step 4: In the Morning:

Remove every single chop or dice of onion from the bowl of vegetables and sautee it in a pan. It is imperative you get all the onion out, but it is not crucial to only take onion out.

When the onions are translucent as above, add the lamb and sear the sides, shouldn't take more than five minutes.

Also, open everything else you bought and put it in the crockpot. As you have read, like I read, the recipe calls for one cup of lentils, but if you dump the whole bag in because your dogs are scratching at the door and the wind's whippin' wicked outside and you just want to save their small shivering bodies from freezing to death because you paid for them so you might as well enjoy their company for a few more years, that's ok. Lentils are chill like that, they'll fit in with the dish.

Turn your slow cooker on low and head to work/school/yoga/demonstrating/laser tag.

(Optional) Leave your slow-cooker unplugged when you turn it on. If you follow this optional step, ensure you text your girlfriend a few hours later and ask her how awesome it smells in your house so that she can participate in the production of the meal.

Step 5: Here's What You Will Wind Up With:

Smells good, looks good, is good. Moroccan lamb stew. You're pumped. I'm pumped. We did it! And it only took 21 ingredients, 11 hours, and 1 girlfriend who fortunately had the day off (optional.)
