Introduction: Zip Tie Phone Case

This is my old IPhone 4. As you can see, it has no case so there is no protection from any kind of drop. In this instructable, I will show you how to make an easy phone case out of zip ties. This case will add more grip to your phone and will also protect it from cracks, dents and scratches to your precious device.

Step 1: Step 1: Making the Outer Frame

The First step that is required to make this case is to configure 4 zip-ties to make a rectangular shape that fits snuggly around your phone. To do this loosely assemble the 4 ties and then tighten it around your phone for maximum tightness. This frame is to protect the sides of the phone. Most of the times you drop your phone, the phone will land on a corner. The zip-tie buckles will keep your corners protected. Also, pressing the volume buttons and the power button is no problem, due to the flexibility of the zip-ties.

Step 2: Step 2: Making the Screen and Back Protectors

The Next step is to protect your screen from cracks as well as the back of your phone. To do this configure 2 loops from your zip-ties and put them over the rectangular frame that you made earlier. These 2 ties will help keep the frame in place while also protecting the front and back of your phone. Since the zipties protrude from the phone, it creates a gap between the surface and the phone when it impacts. This keeps your phone protected on the front and back. Also you can configure these loops so that they don't interfere with your camera and your home button.

Step 3: Step 3: Trimming the Excess Plastic

The next thing to do is to trim the ends of the zip-ties to ensure that there are no protruding parts that make the phone uncomfortable to hold. You can use any snipping tool for this step.

Step 4: Step 4: Finishing Up

Once you've got everything trimmed down, test the grip, making sure that you can grip your phone comfortably. Also make sure all the zip-ties are tight and that they do not block access to the home button. Also make sure that the zip-ties don't cover the camera.

Step 5: Step 5: Test

This is a video of me dropping my phone onto a hardcover textbook. As you can see this case is pretty effective. You can add as many zip-ties as you want to this case because this is just the simplest variant. Thanks for reading this Instructable XD
