Introduction: Cinnamon Roll Whoopie Pies

Whoopie pies are popular up north and taste amazing. Usually make with a cake base, whoopie pies are filled with a filling of frosting or a filling of frosting consistence. To make these, you can make your own cinnamon rolls, or buy some of your favorite from your local store. When I make these I have to double the recipe because my family will eat them all. This recipe is one that is great for a birthday morning or Christmas morning. My dad loves these, so i make them for fathers day also.

Step 1: Getting Things Together

First you need to gather you ingredients for making the whoopie pies. Iused refrigerator cinnamon rolls that you just put in the oven and are done 20 minutes later, you can make your own and that works just as well. For the filling you need:
2 cups butter
7 cups powdered sugar
1 8-oz package of cream cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Make sure you save the frosting that comes with the cinnamon rolls or just make a thick powder sugar glaze

Step 2: Make Cinnamon Rolls

Make cinnamon rolls according the instructions on the back on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet to make it easy to pull them off after done baking. When they are done cooking, put them on a wire rack or on a cool plate to cool completely. I let mine sit for 30 minutes at least.

Step 3: Make Cinnamon Cream Cheese Butter Cream Filling

While your cinnamon rolls are cooling, you will use the butter, powder sugar, cream cheese, cinnamon and vanilla to make the cinnamon-cream cheese butter cream. This filling has a soft taste of cream cheese so its very nice.
First you want to cream your butter and powder sugar together with a mixer.
Second you want to add your cream cheese in four parts, so you want to divide it before.
After adding each section make sure it is mixed together well.
When all your cream cheese is in, mix in your cinnamon and vanilla.
If you make this before, you want to refrigerate it. to do that, put the filling in a bowl and cover with foil or something like that.

Step 4: Putting It Together

Now, once the cinnamon rolls are cooled and the filling is done, you can put them together to make goodness.
Cut the cinnamon rolls in half horizontally.
Fill a frosting bag with the filling a fill the cinnamon rolls on one side then put the top on it.
Take the frosting from the cinnamon rolls or the glaze you make and drizzle or put a design on the top of the cinnamon rolls and then your done a ready to eat! Enjoy with milk or coffee, anytime of day also!
