Introduction: Fresh Flower Tote Bag

This is a great way to share the color of summer.
Children of all ages enjoy pounding on the flowers and watching the color move from the flower to the fabric. My son had a blast making this project for his Grandma.
The fresh flower tote bag is easy and makes a great gift.

Step 1: Gather Materials:

A new white tea towel
hammer
assorted flowers and leaves
fabric paint
hard surface
store bought ribbon for handle
sewing machine
needle and thread

Step 2: Arrange Flowers and Leaves

Fold tea towel in half. Place on a hard surface. Arrange flowers and leaves ,color side down on one side on towel.

Step 3: Smash the Flowers.

Hammer each area of the flowers and leaves into the fabric. The color will change in the petals when the color is set on the fabric.

Step 4: Remove the Flowers

Remove and discard the flowers and leaves. Add touches of fabric paint to add details. Let dry flat overnight.

Step 5: Sew the Bag

Sew the 2 long side of the bag so that only the top is open.

Step 6: Sew on the Handle.

Sew the handle on so it is even on both sides. This can be done by machine but it is a good time to teach simple hand sewing.

Step 7: Press Bag.

Press the bag from the wrong side of the fabric on low heat to set the colors.

Step 8: Use and Enjoy.

Your bag is finished. Use and enjoy or wrap it up as a gift.
