I need to find the Sumac. Do you know if it's called something else here in the states? I'm thinking it might be similar to paprika, but I'm not sure!

Sumac is the powdered drupes (fruits) of the sumac bush. The one used in cooking has red drupes, and imparts a lemony flavor. It is a relative of the 'poison sumac' which can cause severe skin reactions similar to 'poison ivy'. You MAY have to either find a middle eastern grocery store, or a high end spice store in the US to find it. I'm not sure they would carry it in your common super market, but they MIGHT if you have a large enough population from the middle east on your area.
