Maak je eigen kabel-monster t-shirt en ontdek andere vormen van weven en materiaalgebruik! Benodigdheden: t-shirt, potlood, schaar, 1 m rood en/of witte dunne kabel (± 2 mm), 1 m dikke (internet)kabel (± 10 mm), bolletje witte garen, bolletje rode garen en andere weefmaterialen.

Make you own cables-monster T-shirt and discover other methods of weaving and the use of textiles. What you need to do this: old T-shirt, pencil, scissors, 1 m red and/or white cable (approx. 2 mm thick), 1 m of utp internet cable (approx. 10 mm thick), some white sewing thread and some other weaving materials.

Step 1: Oud T-shirt Knippen - Cutting an Old T-shirt

Pak je oude t-shirt en teken een cirkel met een potlood. Vervolgens verdeel je 8 stippen op de lijn van deze cirkel. Pak de schaar en knip kleine gaatjes op de plek waar je net de stippen hebt gezet. Let op: doe dit voorzichtig zodat je geen gaatje in de achterkant van je t-shirt knipt!

take you old T-shirt and draw a circle with a pencil. Divide 8 dots on the line of the circle. Then take the scissors and cut little holes where you have put your dots. Do this carefully, not cutting the back side of your shirt!

Step 2: Kabels Rijgen - Threading the Cables

Rijg met de rode dunne kabel (van ± 2mm) door de gaatjes die je in het t-shirt hebt geknipt. De rode dunne kabel is door alle kleine gaatjes gerijgd. Knoop de twee uiteindes nu aan elkaar in de achterkant van het t-shirt. Pak nu de dikke witte kabel (van ± 10 mm) en rijg deze net als de rode dunne kabel door de gaatjes.

Thread the thin red cable (of 2 mm) through all the holes that you just cut in your T-shirt. When done, knot the end together on the inside of your shirt. Now take the other cable, the white one (of 10 mm) and thread this one through the holes just the same.

Step 3: Afmaken - Finish Your Shirt

Het is erg lastig om een knoop te leggen in een dikke kabel. Pak daarom nu de rode garen om de uiteinden van de witte dikke kabels aan elkaar vast te knopen. Dit doe je aan de binnenkant van het t-shirt. Pak je bolletje rode en witte garen en weef deze op een sierlijke manier door de dikke en dunne kabel heen. Ook kun je hier ander soort materialen bij gebruiken, zoals touw. Gebruik je fantasie en creativiteit!

Je eigen t-shirt met 3D-weefsel is nu helemaal klaar! En het leuke is: je kunt eindeloos veel variaties maken in kleur en (gerecycled) materiaal.

It is difficult to make a knot in the thick cable. So let's get the red sewing yarn to tighten the red and white cable ends together. Do this on the inside of your T-shirt. Take both the white and red sewing yarn and weave both threads in a creative and elegant way through the cables. You can also use other materials for this, like rope. Use your imagination and creativity.

You own 3D woven T-shirt is now ready. And the fun part is: you can make variations in color and (recycled) materials as much as you like!
