Step 1: Ingredients

To make this, you will need the following ingredients:

  • bagel
  • apple
  • cinnamon
  • sugar
  • American cheese
  • knife

Step 2: Prep Bagel

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. You can use a regular oven or a toaster oven.

Then, slice a bagel in half, and place the two halves on a baking sheet.

Step 3: Add Apples

Next, slice an apple in half, and cut into 8 pieces. Then, place 4 on each bagel half.

Step 4: Cinnamon and Sugar

Then, throw some cinnamon and sugar over the apples.

Step 5: Add Cheese

Finally, take two slices of American cheese, and place one slice on each bagel.

Step 6: Bake

Now, place the bagels in the oven to bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese starts to melt. Once they're done, take out of the oven to cool.

Step 7: Scoop Up and Eat!

Use a spatula to scoop up the sandwich on a plate, and enjoy!

Note: my sandwich burned just a little bit, but I learned from my mother that it actually tastes delicious, because of the crustification or carmelization of the cheese that it gives off!

I made these years ago for my boys before school, but I used whole--grain bread. We called it Apple Cheese Toast, and it was one of their favorites! Sometimes to be quicker, I would cook the apple slices in the microwave for 30 seconds while the bread was in the toaster, then assemble toast, apple, and cheese, and pop back into the microwave for a few seconds to melt the cheese. yum
