Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 30 minutes

Let's get started!

Step 1: Ingredients

This recipe is in two parts: Bread Soak and Banana Topping

For the Bread Soak, you will need:

French baguette (I get the fresh baked ones from Safeway)

8-10 eggs

4 cups milk

1/2 tsp salt

2 tbsp cinnamon (or to taste)

2 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Banana Topping, you will need:

3 bananas

2 1/2 cups brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter

2 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Step 2: Prepping Bread

Cut your French Baguette into 1 inch slices (or slightly thinner)

Place slices, face down, in a casserole dish. Ensure that all slices are flush against bottom of dish.

Step 3: Bread Soaking

Mix together milk, eggs, salt, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Give a good whipping, then pour HALF of the Soak onto bread, making sure to distribute evenly over all bread slices

Step 4: Let Stand Then Turn

To ensure that the bread has adequately soaked up enough of the Break Soak, allow to stand for at least one hour (overnight not necessary)

Then flip bread over and pour the remaining Bread Soak on top. Allow to sit for another hour.

When ready, turn oven to 350'

Step 5: Prepping Banana Topping

Pan fry pecan halves for 5 minutes. Then, throw in butter and brown sugar. Allow sugar to melt into butter (about 5 minutes) Then throw in your chopped bananas and stir for 2 minutes. Take off heat and immediately pour over bread slices.

Place casserole dish, uncovered, into preheated oven, set at 350'. Allow to cook for 30 minutes, but check-in at 25 minutes to make sure it isn't crusting too much. (All ovens are different)

Step 6: Take Out of Oven and Enjoy!

The amazing aroma may have you opening your oven earlier, but its worth the wait, I assure you!

Take out of oven and enjoy!

Serves 6-8 adults.
