Introduction: Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls

About: In a valiant attempt to keep myself from dying of boredom, I create.
Our Church Congregation has a tradition for Father’s Day.  After church each man receives a homemade Cinnamon Roll.  Any suggestions made to discontinue our tradition are loudly vetoed by the men in the group.  So it continues.  This is the recipe I use to make cinnamon rolls for Father’s Day.  Here we go.

Step 1:

Recipe:
Dough
1 white or yellow cake mix
4 tsp. dry yeast
3 C. all-purpose flour
2½ C. warm water
1½-2 C. all-purpose flour
Frosting of choice (I chose Cream Cheese)
Filling
¼ C. butter melted
½ C. brown sugar
½ C. white sugar
1 Tbsp. Ground cinnamon
Raisins and/or nuts optional
Other Supplies:
Baking sheet greased
Bread mixer (not shown)
Measuring cups
Rolling pin (not shown)
Knife (not shown)
Cooling rack (not shown)
Cooking spray (not shown)

Step 2:

Pre heat the oven to 350°

In the bread mixer bowl with the dough hooks, add:  cake mix,

Step 3:

3 C. flour and yeast.  Mix

Step 4:

Add the 2½ cups of warm water. Mix

Step 5:

Add the remaining flour ½ C. at a time until the dough pulls away from the side.  Knead for 5 minutes.

Step 6:

While the dough to kneading.  Melt the butter

Step 7:

and mix the sugars and cinnamon.

Step 8:

Scrape the dough out of the bowl onto a floured counter.

Step 9:

You may flatten out the dough using your hands or a rolling pin.  Make it a rectangle about ½” thick.

Step 10:

Take the melted butter and spread it over the rectangle of dough.  Spread the cinnamon sugar mixture all over the dough, letting the melted butter absorb the sugar and cinnamon.

Step 11:

Along one of the long sides tightly roll the dough.

Step 12:

Cut the about 1 inch pieces and place them on the greased baking sheet

Step 13:

Cover with a tea towel and let rise for 45 minutes.

Step 14:

Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes.

Step 15:

If they aren’t golden brown, add more time, 5 minutes at a time until golden brown.

Step 16:

Remove from the oven and let cool.  Once they are cool, frost them.

Step 17:

Done!  Enjoy!
