Introduction: Carleyys Blog Round Up - September 20th

About: Former Instructables employee CHECK OUT MY WORK www.carleyjacobson.com

Thanks for checking back in to my blog round up!  I have been searching the internets for fun projects and inspiration.

I have so many great re-use projects in this round up.  This week I challenge you to re-use an old pen in a beautiful and unique way.

Step 1: Re-Use

Step out of the tub and onto 175 wine corks.  Ask the waiter at the next restaurant you go to if they have any wine bottle corks from that night and save up to create this cool re-use bath mat. Found via Craftynest.

Store your change in this recycled plastic bottle change purse. Throw this environmentally friendly accessory into your bag. What a great conversation starter!

Step 2: Random Crafting

Show your four legged buddy how much you love them!  Etch their name onto a tennis ball and give their toy a personal touch.

Step 3: Fashion

Buttoned Leg Warmers!  Leg warmers are definitely making a come back.  I have seen leg warmers and high socks peaking out of books all around the city.  Check out these trendy leg warmers from LauPre.

Step 4: Greeting Cards

Turntable Greeting Card

Handmade greeting cards are way cooler and more personal than paying $4 for a Hallmark greeting card.

Create a sleek looking greeting card to send to a music lover using old floppy discs.

Step 5: Decor Inspiration

Fish Bowl Sink by Yan Lu encourages water conservation.  As you wash your hands the water in the fish bowl decreases. Don't worry, the water never fully drains out!

The Hana Table
created by Japanese designer Shige Hasegawa uses Origami techniques to assemble with out the use of screws or nails to hold up the glass table top.

Step 6: Weekly Challenge

Every week, as part of this round-up, I want to pose our crafty community a challenge.
Take the inspiration I provide and make your own Instructable from it. Everyone who participates will get a special patch!

This week's challenge is: Recycled Pen

This gorgeous recycled pen flower vase inspired me to make this weeks challenge a re-use pen project.  This pen was heated and hand blown (using a similar technique to blown glass) to make this vase.

Once you've made your instructable, be sure to add it to the Check It Out! Challenge Group, so I'll know to give you a patch.

Previous Challenges :

Amoeba Shaped Lamp: This lamp isn't just a lighting mechanism, it is a piece of art. Create a lamp with amoeba like features.

Stuffed Animal Clothing: Inspired by the outrageous costumes of Lady Gaga, including her Hello Kitty Dress and Kermit the Frog get up, create your own clothing and accessories out of stuffed animals.

Multi-Purpose Storage: This table has three uses: it can be a simple coffee table, it can store books, and the top flaps can pop out to be used as a TV dinner stand.. For this challenge build a piece of furniture or re work a part of your room or closet to elegantly store as much as possible while serving multiple purposes.

Under Armor: Under armor is correct! These industrial intimates created by Ingrid Goldbloom Bloch are made out of all sorts of metals from recycled aluminum cans, stainless steel mesh, rivets, grommets, hooks, and more. For this challenge, fabricate your own garments out of found metals!

Unique Clocks: I have seen some really unique clocks on instructables. I thought this clock make from a recycled bicycle could be inspiration to make some unique clocks from found objects.

Visit the Challenge group to see the rest of the previous challenges.

I can't wait to see what you make!
