Introduction: CopyCat TacoBell Quesadilla Recipe

I grew up eating TacoBell, but once I entered college I could no longer afford the more expensive items on the menu.

This forced me to try and learn how to make some of my favorite items whenever I had the craving instead of just going out and buying them.

I hope that you enjoy this Instructable and if you do please vote for it in the "CopyCat Recipe Contest".

This is my first Instructable so let me know what you think in the comments!

Step 1: Gather the Supplies

For the Sauce:

1 cup low fat sour cream (you can also use yogurt or mayonnaise)

3 Tbsp pickled sliced jalapeno pepper, minced,

3 Tbsp jalapeno juice

1 Tbsp white sugar

2 tsp ground cumin

2 tsp paprika

1⁄2 tsp cayenne pepper

1⁄2 tsp garlic powder

1⁄2 tsp salt

Other ingredients needed:

Tortillas (I prefer white tortillas but you can also use whole wheat)

Chicken Breast (or steak or whatever kind of meat you like) (optional)

cheddar cheese (or Mexican cheese blend)

American Cheese (slices)

Tools:

Mixing bowl

Mixing Spoon

Knife

Grill

Pan or skillet

Spatula (to flip the quesadilla)

Step 2: Making the Sauce

1. Start by dicing the pickled jalapenos as finely as possible.

2. Add the sour cream (or mayo) into a mixing bowl.

3. Add in the minced pickled jalapenos, jalapeno juice, and spices.

4. Mix to Combine

The Jalapeno Sauce can be used on almost any Mexican Dish! Try it on your burritos, eggs, tacos, enchiladas or anything else you can think of. Think of it as Mexican (americanized) sriracha.

Step 3: Prepare the Meat (skip This Step If You Don't Want to Use Meat)

1. Clean and trim fat from the Chicken (or Steak).

2. Lightly salt and pepper the outside of the chicken.

3. Grill the chicken until it is fully cooked. (Internal Temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit) Note: You can also cut the largest piece in half to check if it is still pink in the middle.

4. Remove chicken from the grill and slice it into 1/4 inch pieces.

*If you do not have access to a grill you can use a Skillet to cook the chicken.

1. Add tsp of oil to a skillet and heat to medium high heat.

2. Add chicken and allow to cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until starting to brown.

3. Flip and allow the other side to finish cooking. (Check internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit)

Step 4: Putting It All Together

1. Gather all ingredients together; Tortillas, Cheese (Cheddar and American), Jalapeno Sauce, and Chicken (or other meat).

2. Place Tortilla on plate.

3. Spoon out a light amount of jalapeno sauce over the entire surface of the tortilla.

4. Put a light covering of cheddar cheese over the jalapeno sauce.

5. Rip American cheese slices into smaller pieces and spread out over the tortilla.

6. Place sliced grilled chicken on one half of the tortilla.

7. Fold the tortilla in half.

Step 5: Cooking and Slicing the Quesadilla

1. Preheat skillet to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Place Quesadilla onto skillet and allow to cook 2 to 3 minutes or until slightly browned.

3. Flip Quesadilla over and allow to cook for 2 to 3 more minutes or until browned

4. Remove From Skillet and place on Plate.

5. Use a pizza cutter or knife to slice into pieces or just eat it how it is!

Step 6: Eat.

Now all you have to do is eat the tasty creation!

It tastes good how it is or consider dipping it in sour cream or a little bit more of that tasty jalapeno sauce!

I hope you enjoyed this Instructable.
