Follow the easy steps below or watch the short video tutorial or do both! :)

Step 1: Ingredients/Tools

Print the recipe here if you like.

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup of white granulated sugar (150g)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa (25g)
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch (22g)
  • 1/4 tsp. of salt (1g)
  • 2-1/4 cups milk (whole, 2%, 1%) (562 ml)
  • 2 Tbsp butter (28g)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract (5ml)

Tools:

  • Medium Pot
  • Wooden Spoon or Silicone Spoon
  • Whisk
  • Plastic wrap
  • Bowls

Step 2: Dry Ingredients

First let's add our dry ingredients, the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt to a medium pot. Then using a whisk mix all the dry ingredients together. You can also use a sifter if you like.

Step 3: Milk and Stir

Next let's slowly incorporate the milk with the dry ingredients, adding about 1/3 of the milk at a time, then stirring with a spoon or whisk. Do this until all of the milk is combined.

Step 4: The Heat Is On!

Now set your burner to medium heat, and heat up the pudding until it starts to bubble. Once the bubbles start let it continue to cook for 1 minute, then take it off the heat. Make sure to continually stir while the pudding is on the heat.

Step 5: Butter Time

Now let's add in our butter and vanilla extract to the pudding and stir it in.

Step 6: Scoop, Cover, Chill, Serve

Next we scoop some pudding in our serving bowls and cover the tops with plastic wrap, to prevent a skin from forming. Next chill it in the fridge for a few hours, or you can wait for a few minutes and serve it warm. I prefer it cold. After it has chilled remove the plastic and serve it up! :) Add a dollop of whipped cream too if you like. :) Enjoy!
