I just moved into a new office and I had to furnish it from ground zero. So many expenses, basically no time and the need to have furniture as fast as possible without giving up on aesthatics and design solution.

I think about the design of my office for a few time, until I decided to assemble it by myself, trying to develop my own DIY project.

Step 1: Why PlayWood?

Here I am going to describe how I built my desk. According to my needs I didn’t want a huge desk, because I have a tiny space available and moreover I wanted something easy to be re-assembled at home or in a different way; because of these reasons I decided to buy some fir layers boards with a thickness between 16 and 19 mm (¾” and ⅞”); in order to build the entire structure I decided to use angle connectors 90°.

I personally recommend the PlayWood connectors system, because they are made of top-quality plastic materials fully recycled and versatile; they allow you to create pieces of modular furniture modern and easy to be transported and folded whenever you may need.

Step 2: What Do I Need?

For the creation of this project I used:

  • 12 PlayWood Connectors 90°
  • 1 Fir layers Board 100 x 60 cm - 39,37” x 23,62”
  • 2 Fir layers Boards 80 x 60 cm - 31,50” x 23,62”
  • 2 Fir layers Boards 80 x 40 cm - 31,50” x 15,75”

Step 3: How Do I Build It?

First of all I joint the top of my desk with two wooden boards through 4 angle connectors 90°. By doing so, I obtained the structure of my desk: Top and legs.

Secondly I put two angle connectors 90° on the right and left side of the top;

After that I added two more wooden panels per each side, creating a modern and elegant office desk, that I may also use in different location such as at home or for my kid, if I’ll have one!

Step 4: What Are You Waiting For?

In my opinion this solution is not only practical and fast to build, but it’s also a chance to create a DIY project without drilling or nailing materials; allowing you to reuse them in the future! Is it the purpose of DIY sustainable project, isn’it?
