De Puertas De Armario a Baul De Juguetes- From Closet Doors... to Toy Box

Hola hola, vecinos. Hoy os voy a presentar el tipico proyecto que el que empiezas para hacer algo, y durante su realizacion cambia varias veces de destino. Queria hacer algun tipo de baul para usar en casa, o mia o de algun familiar. Pero no habia nadie que quisiera nada parecido. Entonces cambio de idea, y lo empiezo a hacer para usar en mi "magnifico taller" casero. Y cuando esta casi finalizado surge un "padrino" que lo quiere para los juguetes de mi sobrina. Asi que cualquier parecido con cualquier idea inicial que tuviera, es pura coincidencia. Haber que os parece, porque esto es otro ejercicio e reciclaje extremo. Los materiales desde los que partimos son unas puertas de armario. El resto del armario fue a la basura, pero pude rescatar estas puertas, que era lo unico que podia guardar. No tengo mucho sitio. Tambien hay alguna tabla de palet, ruedas y algunos ejes de fotocopiadora. El relleno de un sofa y restos de cortinas que habia hecho mi esposa. Las herramientas empleadas son las habituales, martillo, sierra, destornilladores, limas, lija etc... Y una sierra de corona en un taladro de columna. Esto es un truco que seguro que todos conoceis, pero a mi me hizo mucha ilusion descubrirlo.

I liked make some kind of box for use at home, or mine or a family member. But there was no one who wanted anything. Then I change my mind, and I begin to do to use in my "marvelous home workshop". And when this almost completed, appears a "godfather" who wants one for my niece's toys. So any resemblance to any original idea I had, is purely coincidental. Be what you think, this is another exercise of extreme recycling .

The materials from which we start are cabinet doors. The rest of the cabinet was to trash, but I could rescue these doors, it was all I could save. I do not have lot of space. There is also a board of pallet, wheels and some axes of Photocopying. Stuffing a chair and remains of curtains that had made my wife.

The tools used are the usual, hammer, saw, screwdrivers, files, sand etc ...

And a saw crown in a drill. This is a trick that surely all you know , but I was really excited to find out.

Step 1: Preparar El Material Y Primeros Pasos - Prepare the Material and First Steps

Lo primero que tengo que hacer es quitar toda la ferreteria, bisagras, asas etc. Como buen recilador extremo, todo se guarda convenientemente, para su posterior reciclamiento en alguna otra locura. Es decir, todo en una misma caja, para "facilitar" su posterior busqueda. Las puertas se lijan, los agujeros de las bisagras se tapasn con masilla, se hacen agujeros para atornillar un panel con otro, y usando unos sargentos de escuadra, se empieza a hacer la caja. Fijaros en el taladro de ultima generacion que hay sobre el banco. No tiene una mira laser, pero usa un motor sin escobillas y es extremadamente silencioso. Como se trata de un taladro para madera, no hay version de taladro con martillo. De vez en cuando me gusta usar este taladro, porque asi me evito quitar el oxido con frecuencia.

Step 2: Finalizando La Caja - Finalizing the Box

Como se puede ver, todo el trabajo es hacer agujeros para luego atornillar los paneles entre si. Quiero ver si consigo una superficie completamente plana, como las que consiguen los carpinteros buenos. Asi que me dedico a dar masilla de madera en todas las uniones de los paneles, y en los agujeros de los tornillos. Pero para que los tornillos no se vean, aparte de la masilla, antes hay que embutirlos en la madera. No os voy a enseñar como hacerlo, porque seguro que lo haceis mejor que yo.

En este caso es una masilla coloreada, que tenia por casa, y por que no se estropeara, la use aqui. Normalmente suelo hacer una mezcla de serrin y cola vinilica. me gusta mas. Cuando seca la masilla, se lija. Si no quedan bien cubiertos los agujeros y juntas, se vuelve a repetir el proceso.

Step 3: La Tapa... Con Lo Que Tengo - the Cover ... With What I Have

Cuando hacemos algo con elementos recuperados, tenemos que acomodarnos a lo que hay. En este caso, para hacer la tapa, ya no tenia una puerta del mismo tamaño que las demas. Asi que me saque de la chistera (como un mal mago) este sistema tan poco bonito. Una tabla que termine de completar la abertura de la caja. Si ya se que te has dado cuenta de que en estas fotos todavia no esta dada la masilla, pero es que queria explicarlo en un paso aparte.

La tabla que pongo fija en la caja, y que tiene atronillada la bisagra, es la unica forma que encontre para poder ponerle una tapa, pero desoues de hecho me doy cuenta que es una solucion muy sencilla, para mantener la tapa abierta sin que caiga sobre un lateral. Si la bisagra estubiera atornillada a la caja, al abrirla caeria, golpeando si no se sujeta, contra la caja.

Step 4: Unas Bandejas Para Tener Cosas - Trays to Have Things

Con unas tablas de palets vamos a hacer unas bandejas. Esta es otra de esas cosas que seguro que tu haces mejor que yo, Asi que solo comentar que los laterales estan atornillados, y la base esta encolada y clava con puntas. El detalle que no es habitual, a no ser que uses maderas no comerciales, es que tienen muchos fallos. En este caso hay unos fallos muy grandes, que relleno con la masilla que os he comentado antes, serrin y cola vinilica. Despues se lija, y el resultado no es nada malo.

Step 5: Unas Asas Para Las Bandejas - Some Handles for Trays

Las bandejas van a cubrir toda la abertura del cajon, sobre unos listones de madera. Y por eso, el manejo de las baldas puede ser un poco complicado si tenemos que tirar de la tabla del centro de la bandeja. Para mejorar la manejabilidad de las bandejas, he decidido poner unas asas. ¿Y como realizarlas? Con sierras de corona en el taladro de banco. Se realizan tres agujeros, que posteriormente uniremos con la escofina. Despues se liman con lima de metal, para afinar, y lija. Se encola y clava a la bandeja.

Por cierto. Los circulos que salen de la sierra circular, son unas magnificas patas para cajas o muebles.

Step 6: Ultimos Detalles - Last Details

Para poder mover con facilidad el baul, me he "sacado de la manga" unas asas. Son dos ejes de acero, tambien restos de una impresora laser, de las impresoras grandes. Y para unirlas a la caja, me fabrico con restos triangulares estos soportes, a los que doy forma con la escofina y lima. Son 5 piezas, las tres centrales tienen agujeros pasantes, y para bloquear los ejes, pongo una pieza a cada lado, para cerrar los agujeros. Asi no se mueven los ejes.

Tambien le he puesto dos ruedas, "rescatadas" de unas mesas de oficina, y como en este momento el cajon era para el taller, le pongo dos patas de madera, para que tenga una base fuerte (por si hay que usar el martillo o la sierra sobre el cajon).

Tambien le he puesto un cierre a la tapa, pero como no es reciclado, ni lo menciono.

La pintura tambien es un resto que tenia por el taller. La di con rodillo, varias manos, y lijando entre manos. El acabado me dejo impresionado, efecto espejo (ja ja ja).

The paint is also a rest I had in the workshop. I painted it with roller, several hands, and sanding between coats. The finish left me impressed, mirror effect (ha ha ha).

Step 7: Ahora Si Que Lo Quiero.... - Now Yes, I Want It

Cuando ya estaba acabado, de repente, me lo piden para guardar los jugetes de mis sobrinos. Me da la sensacion de que no tenian mucha confianza del resultado, y por eso nadie lo quiso hasta que lo vieron acabado. Pero con esa apariencia de armario industrial, no me parecia que fuera el mejor diseño para una casa. Asi que le planifico un cambio de loock.

Hacia tiempo que queria experimentar con el arte de la tapiceria, y esta seria la mejor forma de hacerlo. Y me plantee que podria ponerle un asiento, que aunque no se usara habitualmente, fuera un asiento de emergencia usable.

Para eso consegui un trozo de gomaespuma, de un sillon viejo. Y con la ayuda de mi suegro, empezamos por partir el trozo de gomaespuma en dos trozos, para que el asiento no resulte demasiado abultado. Y empleamos para eso un cutter y mucha paciencia

Despues le dimos forma con una tela de algodon, que grapamos en la tapa. Despues le pusimos la tela definitiva, tambien grapada a la tapa, y para tapar las grapas, le pusimos unos perfiles de madera, que encolamos y atornillamos a la tapa. De esta forma sujetamos las telas, ademas de tapar las grapas.

For that, I got a piece of foam rubber, from an old chair. And with the help of my father in law, we start from the piece of foam, cutting into two pieces, so that the seat not be too bulky. And for that we use a knife and patience

After, we shape with a cotton cloth, which stapled at the top. After we put the final fabric, also stapled to the top, and to cover the staples, we put wooden profiles, which we glued and screwed to the top. Thus we hold the fabrics between the door and profile, in addition to cover the staples.

Step 8: Acabado Al Fin - Finished at Last

Para terminar repeti la operacion en la parte fija de la tapa, y luego lo pinte de blanco. Mi intencion era hacerle algunos dibujos en las paredes de la caja, pero al final mi esposa compro unos vinilos adhesivos para decorar las paredes de la caja. Pero un dia pore otro, nunca le he hecho fotos.

Y este es el resultado final, de unas puertas de madera que ivan camino de la basura, a una caja de juguetes multifuncion, en dos pasos. Espero que os haya interesado, y que acabe dandoos alguna idea de lo que se puede hacer con eso que parece que no tiene otro destino que la basura.
