Introduction: Drill Press LED Light UPGRADE!

For those, like me, who had their dichroic lamps fried, I present you the best adaptation to convert your broken drill press light to LED technology! :D

It's a simple tutorial showing how to convert a led lamp to fit the original dichroic slot of your drill press.

Easy to make, very CHEAP and functional!

Step 1: What You Need:

Parts

  • A led lamp;
  • Copper wire;
  • Paper tube.

Tools

  • Hacksaw;
  • Glue Gun;
  • Soldering iron;
  • Pliers;

Step 2: Take Apart the Busted Dichroic Lamp

Remove the busted dichroic lamp. Those lamps are cheap but they burn out in any sign of vibration... NOT suitable for a drill press (Smash that useless thing! hehehe)

Step 3: Modify Your LED Lamp

Take out the bulb to expose the circuit board.

Step 4: Soldering the New Connector

Solder two pieces of copper wire on the "positive" and "negative" pads of the circuit

Step 5: Seal It With Glue Gun

Put some hot glue to secure in place the copper wires

Step 6: Light Deflector

I used a paper tube for dust protection and light deflection. Cut it out and stick into the lamp hole

Step 7: Test It!

I'm really glad with the final result. It's durable, bright and took me 10 min to make!
