Hi everyone!

Here's a new add-on i made for my dust collector cart , and it's awesome. While i can plug the hose directly into my miter saw and my table saw, i can't do this for my band saw and my drill press. So .. the idea came to me to build an extendable arm! I hope you enjoy this project, share photos with me if you build one.

Step 1: Materials

Here is the list of what you need to make this project.

1 x ABS pipe ( 1½ x 6' )
2 x ABS elbow ( Male to Female )
2 x ABS elbow ( Female to Female )
1 x ABS reducer ( 1½ to 1¼ )
3 x 8-32 screw x 5/8 long + washer and locknut
ABS glue

Step 2: Assemble All Parts

Now, before we go further, assemble all the parts together so you can see what the final result will be. You can adjust the length of the pipes at this step. I made it a way i can use my shopvac accessories so i can add lengths as i want.

Step 3: Ohoh .. We Need to Fix That!

As you can see, if you try to rotate the elbow of the arm, it will just fall apart. So we have to find a way so that the elbow does not disassemble each time you rotate it. You can't add glue everywhere otherwise your arm will now move anymore.

Step 4: Make a Groove

Best way i found was to make a groove with my band saw then with a file on the male end of one of the elbow, and add a screw through the female end of the other elbow.

Step 5: Secure Everything Together

Now, assemble both elbows together, then drill through the female to female elbow, and insert the screw. Secure everything with a washer and a locknut. Repeat the process so you have 2 functional rotating elbows.

Step 6: Add Some Glue

Now assemble all the parts and add some glue, but not everythere. Only where you see red circles.

Step 7: Swivel Base

Now, you want to make a swivel base, it will be easier to place the arm to the machine you want. So let's make another groove on the pipe, then drill and add a screw like we did for the 2 elbows.

Step 8: Attach the Arm to the Cart

Now, it's time to attach the arm to the dust collector cart , i made a small square piece from scrap plywood so the pipe will be flush underneath. I didn't know if abs glue would stick to wood, so i used some gorilla glue to bond the arm to the cart, and it's very effective ! I added a screw but it was not necessary. Now , let's enjoy.
