About: Hello and Welcome to In the Kitchen With Matt. I am your host Matt Taylor. My goal for the show is to teach you how to cook really good food at home for cheap. Eating out everyday can get expensive, but it doe…

"1, 2, 3, 4, Give me a break, give me a break, break me off a piece of that kit kat bar!" hahaha kudos to you if you remember that commercial on Television from years ago. In this instructable I will show you how to make kit kats using 2 ingredients. These homemade kit kat bars are so awesome. The cool thing about them is you can make all kinds of different flavor combinations. You can of course use milk chocolate or dark chocolate or white chocolate for the outside, and then use vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate wafers on the inside. These are super easy to make, if I can make them, you can make them. Let's get started!

Don't forget to follow me and check out my other instructables.

If you have any questions or comments leave them down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Follow the easy steps below or watch the short video tutorial, or do both! :)

Step 2: Cut Those Wafers

First step, we want to cut our wafer cookies lengthwise. They are usually too wide. I got these at Walmart they were extremely cheap if you get the Great Value brand, they have more expensive brands as well. You notice I also have some strawberry ones. They also had chocolate wafers, if you want to do an extreme chocolate kit kat, haha. :) Just use your chef knife and cut them in half lengthwise down the middle.

Step 3: Melt, Dip, and Place

Now we take our candy melts or chocolate chips, or chocolate bars and melt them. I usually just do it in the microwave on bursts of 25 or 30 seconds, stir, 25 to 30 seconds, stir, etc. until the chocolate melts. But you can certainly do it on the stovetop with the double boiler method too if you like. Just take a sauce pot, put about an inch of water in it and turn it on medium heat. Then place a bowl on top and add your chocolate to that, the steam from the water will heat up the bottom of the bowl and melt the chocolate. Now that we have the chocolate melted, let's dip in our wafers into the chocolate. Use a fork to lift it out of the chocolate and drain off the excess. Then place it on a cookie sheet or sheet pan, lined with parchment paper or a silicon mat.

*Tip - If you are going to take them to a party and they will be sitting out at room temperature, I recommend using the candy melts, they won't melt at room temp as easy as normal chocolate will, unless you temper the normal chocolate.

Step 4: Chill and Serve

One thing you can do is after you place one kit kat bar down, you can add a little bit of chocolate with your spoon at the base, then add another one next to it, so it connects. Which will create one similar to the store. In case you really want to break someone off a piece of that homemade kit kat bar. Place them in the fridge and let them chill for about 30 minutes until the chocolate sets up. Now take a bite and try not to eat too many of them. haha :) Enjoy!
