Introduction: Easy Vegan Fudge Brownies
So easy, a caveman could do it.
You probably already have all these basic ingredients...
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 tbsp baking powder
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup sunflower oil
1 3/4 cup almond milk
Only seven ingredients, with no hassle of melting butter or chocolate chips. Yup, it's that easy.
Step 1: Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 180°C/355°F.
Step 2: Ready Your Pan
Grease or line an 8x8 baking dish or pan.
Step 3: Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl mix together flour, cocoa, baking powder, sugar and salt.
Step 4: Add Wet Ingredients
Add in oil and milk. Stir until combined.
Step 5: Pour the Batter
Pour brownie batter into baking dish or pan.
Step 6: Use a Spatula
Use a spatula to better get the rest of the batter from your bowl.
Step 7: Set Timer & Bake
After the batter has been poured into your baking dish or pan, it is finally time to bake it. Bake for 25 minutes. I set a timer on my iPhone.
Step 8: Test With a Toothpick
After the timer rings, take out your brownies (remember to wear oven gloves). Using a clean toothpick, insert the toothpick into the center of the brownies. If the toothpick has batter on it when you remove it, bake for a few more minutes and test with a toothpick again. If the toothpick is clean, your brownies are perfect. Well done.
Step 9: Cool & Cut
Leave your brownies outside for 20 minutes if you have very low temperatures. Otherwise, allow your brownies to cool for at least an hour before cutting.
If you would prefer, prepare a vegan chocolate frosting to go over your brownies before cutting. Use this easy recipe:
3 tbsp non-dairy spread
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1 1/3 cup icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1-2 tbsp milk
Combine the spread and cocoa powder in a bowl. Gradually mix in sugar, vanilla and add milk as needed to create your desired consistency.
