Introduction: Frozen Fried Onion Cubes - Version 2

For plebes who like "Hacking" & for elites who like "Repurposing" & for frugals who like "Recycling", forgive the pun "six of one 1/2 dozen of other"

Step 1: Recycle Those Plastic Egg Cartons for Frozen Fried Onions

This is my 2nd version on Instructables, for Frozen Fried Onions, and its even easier than my 1st one. I use Natures Yoke plastic cartons (but other people may use other brands). As long as they're plastic, you can recycle the emptied plastic cartons for long-term fried-onion storage, by buying White Onions, then dice the onions Finely, and Fry them. (I use sunflower oil). If you usually use onions in soup, then do NOT fry them too long. If your use is for mashed-potatoes, then fry the onions more thoroughly. After that, simply spoon the fried onions into the compartments of the egg-carton,. Put on plastic-gloves to press the onions firmly into the compartments.. With Natures Yoke - you get Double the amount! (24 compartments instead of just 12 - because the flip-out egg-guard ALSO can be used as compartments. Just use a good scissors to separate the arrays from each other, along the hinged part. Then enclose each onion-array inside a food-grade plastic bag for freezing. There you go! Once frozen, each cube is easily removable, one by one, for instant use in soups, mashed-potatoes, and so forth.
