Creating art journal pages is a great way to experiment with new techniques or color combinations without fear of “messing it up.” Encourage all the women and girls in your life to read with this bold art journal page.

Step 1: Prep Your Pages

Lightly mist your pages with water, and then spritz with spray inks. Dab the ink with a paper towel roll between layers, and keep adding color until you are satisfied with the look.

Step 2: Stenciling and More Stenciling

Stencil in layers on your pages, spraying with white ink and dabbing away the excess as you go.

Once you're happy with the background, use a heat tool to dry your pages a bit.

When the pages are dry to the touch, layer an alphabet stencil onto the right page, and spread a thin layer of texture paste over it with a palette knife. Using texture paste with stencils makes the results smooth and crisp.

Step 3: Collage and Finish

Cut out the desired images and text, and glue them onto your pages. Outline the text and images with a black journal pen, and stamp text onto the left page. Finish by lightly spraying a little more color on the corners.
