Introduction: Home Made Home Run - Chicken Nuggets With Chili and Cheese

There is a hometown deli which serves their famous chicken nuggets with fries covered in spicy chili and cheese, they call it a Home Run! What is a guy to do who no longer has access to such a dangerously delectable meal? Make your own! I substituted the fries for roasted potatoes but the end result was just as awesome as the original. The chicken nuggets were procured from a NYC chicken nugget restaurant, feel free to make chicken nuggets from scratch but I'll leave that part to the professionals.

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

You will need:

a pan for roasting potatoes

Leftover chicken nuggets

American Cheese

Spicy Chili

Additional spices (optional)

Potatoes

Step 2: Roast Potato

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Cut Potatoes into half inch pieces

Toss with olive oil, salt & pepper

Roast in oven for 20-30 min, until lightly browned

Step 3: Prepare Chili

Open canned chili (or homemade if you prefer)

Heat on medium in small pot and add:

half a teaspoon of chili powder

1 teaspoon of hot sauce

1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes

heat for 10 min until hot and well blended

Step 4: Prepare Chicken Nuggets

Take premade chicken nuggets and slice into halves

Add the chicken to the now roasted potatoes and continue to heat in oven at 400 degrees for 5 more minutes

This will bring the chicken up to temp

Step 5: Combine All Ingredients

In a small baking dish start with a layer of chicken and potatoes

Cover with chili then a layer of American cheese (4-5 slices)

Bake for 5 more minutes at 350 degrees to melt cheese

Step 6: Final Step - the Seasoning

I like to add a final pinch of Lawry's seasoning salt to the top before digging in, and don't forget the honey mustard!

Enjoy!
