Introduction: How to Make Fried Oreos

Fried Oreos are a delicious treat to share with friends or to have all to yourself. They are a beautiful mix of pancakes and Oreos. In this instructable, I will be using regular and mint Oreos. You can use any flavor you want to satisfy your taste or go along with a certain theme, like red velvet Oreos for valentines day.

This tasty desert is super easy and fun to make.

Step 1: Ingredients & Materials

You will need

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of pancake mix
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • Pack of Oreo's of your choice(these ingredients make between 15-20 fried Oreos)

Materials:

  • A mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Frying pot
  • Measuring cup

Step 2: Prep the Oreos

  1. Put the Oreos in a ziplock bag
  2. Put them in a freezer for no less than 3 hours
    • This helps the keeps the Oreos from falling apart and cream filling from melting and leaking into the frying pan

Step 3: Prep the Batter

When Oreos are done freezing, start mixing your batter

Do Not make your batter before the Oreos are done freezing (letting your batter sit to long may cause it to become too thick)

Place "dry" ingredient in the bowl first, then the rest of the "wet" ingredients

  • 2 cups of pancake mix
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Stir until there are no lumps or bumps left

Troubleshooting:

  • If your batter is too thick where it is clinging to the whisk, then add more milk until it becomes smooth
  • If your batter is too runny where it essentially is like water, then add more pancake mix until there is a smooth consistency.

Step 4: Prep the Oil

  1. Fill frying pot with 2-3 inches of cooking oil
  2. Heat pot to 375 degrees Fahrenheit

Step 5: Frying the Oreos

Once your batter and Oreos are ready

  1. Put the Oreos in the batter and coat them until you can not see through the batter
  2. Drop Oreos into heated oil and cook on each side until golden brown.
    • Use tongs to flip the Oreos around and to take them out of the oil
  3. Once you take them out of the oil, drain them on paper towels

Voila you have your fried Oreos, Enjoy!
