Introduction: Nihari Recipe at Home by Me

Nihari is one of the tastiest Pakistani foods; it is something that usually takes 4 to 5 hours to cook but still its lovers make it. It is prepared with either beef, camel or mutton whichever you like. Additional ingredients include flour, spices and some herbs. Karachi in Pakistan is the place where you can find the best taste of beef nihari across the world. However, I am here sharing a method which will allow you to get the same taste at home.

Step 1: Nihari Ingredients

Garlic
Salt
Onion
Black Peppercorns
Red Pepper
Coriander Powder
White Cumin
Fennel Seeds
Black Cardamom Seeds
Dried Ginger
Long Pepper
Yogurt
Flour

Step 2: Grinding Spices

Grind fennel seeds, cardamom, long pepper and ginger together

Step 3: Yogurt and Spices Paste

Combine salt, black pepper, red pepper, coriander powder, white cumin, yogurt and ground spices (ground in last step) together, stir with spoon and form a thick paste.

Step 4: Frying Onions

Fry onions in heated oil until browned.

Step 5: Frying Ginger Garlic

Fry ginger and garlic paste for couple of minutes. Then add flour and cook for 2 to 3 minutes further.

Step 6: Adding Spices Paste

Add yogurt and spice paste, roast until oil becomes visible.

Step 7: Adding Meat

Now add meat, mix well with spoon so that it absorbs the spices well.

Step 8: Cook Meat

Cook until meat is partially cooked. Then add 3 glass water, and then bones.

Step 9: Finalizing Nihari

Now cook meat fully at low to medium heat.

Step 10: Voila - Nihari Is Ready

Nihari is ready.

Sprinkle coriander leaves, ginger, chopped green chillies and drop lemon juice accordingly.

Now it's ready to serve with hot flatbread (naan or chapati).
