Introduction: Novelty Wind Chime

About: I enjoy crafting and am always tinkering with something. I really love to work on my 1" scale doll house and the things that go inside of it.

A Novelty Wind Chime from scraps!

Supplies

* piece of scrap wood ( I used a piece that was 7" x 4" x 1")

* piece of sand paper

* 2 eye hooks

* ruler

* paint (I used black spray paint & white acrylic paint)

* piece of string, twine or yarn aprox. 7" in length

* scissors

* paintbrush

* stencils (letters) optional

* empty can or bottle of favorite alcoholic beverage

Step 1: Step 1: Gather Everything Needed

Gather everything needed for project. Find a workspace and get busy!

Step 2: Step 2: Prep & Paint

I started with a piece of sandpaper and sanded the rough cut ends on the wood as well as the front surface. After wiping all of the dust off of the wood I spray painted the whole thing black. Let dry (the pic shows eye hooks in, that is actually next step)

Step 3: Step 3: Eye Hooks

After wood was dry, I measured & marked the center on top & bottom edges of wood & screwed an eye hook into the edges.

Step 4: Step 4: Lettering

Choose a name to put on front of board and either stencil it with the words 'wind' & 'chime' after name you chose .or draw it on free hand. I did it free hand because it wouldn't of mattered if I used a stencil, it would still be uneven & crooked because I have a hard time with lettering lol

Step 5: Step 5: Last But Not Least

I used a Bud can (empty) & I tied one end of the string onto the pull tab on top of the can and tied the other end of the string to eye hook on bottom edge of wood. The top eye hook I put on a hook to hang my chime. You can add string to it if you need to have it hang lower! Have a few beers, a few laughs and enjoy!
