Introduction: Puppy Chow

This is an edible project that only takes about 20 minutes, provided you have electricity. It is very tasty, and once you start eating you cannot stop, you will eat it until there no more, then you will make more, and eat even more and more until you can physically not lift your hand to eat and you have eaten yourself into a deep dark depression and have no friends to eat it with. Then you'll found a community and try to overcome your addiction with others which have followed this same trend.

Step 1: Ingredients

  1. You will need a big bowl like seriously this bowl is giant it's like three times the size of my head
  2. You will need one Crispix cereal, a box of about 12 oz, but the recipe is changeable.
  3. You will need 1/2 a cup of peanut butter
  4. You will need 2 cups of chocolate chips
  5. You will need one paper bag, about the height of a forearm, so that you can roll up the top later on.
  6. You will need a one pound bag of powdered sugar. You will not need the whole bag because the food will only absorb some of the sugar to a certain limit. We used about 2 cups when we made it, but you can use more or less depending on how much you want.

Step 2: Preparing the Cereal

This is the first real step of the project, and probably the easiest. Pour the Crispix cereal into your bowl, 1 box is the optimal size for the ingredients we have.

Step 3: Melting Together the Peanut Butter and Chocolate

This step is the hardest step. The first thing you need to do is warm a pan on high. Measure out 1 cup of chocolate chips and put it inside of the pan. Bring the pan down to a very lower temperature so that you do not burn the chocolate chips as you measure out the other cup of chocolate chips. Add another cup to the pan. After this step, you should have 2 cups of chocolate chips inside of your pan. As these are being melted, scoop out half a cup of peanut butter into the pan. Stir these together, being careful to not let them melt.

Step 4: Carefully Stirring

Carefully stir the peanut butter and chocolate chips until they combine into one paste. They should look like the final picture in this slide. Be careful not to touch this yet because it will be quite hot to the touch and will probably burn you. Make sure that all the chocolate chips have melted so that it turns brown and looks liquidy.

Step 5: Combining the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mix and the Crispix Cereal

After you have completed the previous step, pour the solution onto the Crispix cereal. try to make a circular motion around the cereal, as it will be much easier to stir it around the cereal if it is distributed throughout the cereal. After it is poured into the cereal bowl, stir around the cereal so it gets to the others. Try to scoop the cereal from the bottom to the top, so that it evenly distributes throughout the cereal.

Step 6: Transferring the Cereal to the Bag

Pour the cereal into the paper bag

Note: If you would not like your puppy chow to have powdered sugar on it, you can finish without adding the Crispix to the bag. I personally would recommend doing this step, but it is not completely needed.

Step 7: Adding and Shaking the Powdered Sugar

This step has 4 parts to it, each with the same repetition. For the first part, pour half a cup of powdered sugar into the bag. This does not have to be exact, just an estimation. Once you did this, shake the bag around. Repeat this step until you have used 2 cups of powdered sugar, shaking it after each addition.

Step 8: Pour the Puppy Chow Out

This is the final step of the project. Pour your fresh puppy chow onto a sheet. We had to take some of the rest of the puppy chow and add some more sugar to it, but that all depends on how you like it.

Congratulations! You just made some amazing warm puppy chow, that you won't be able to stop eating. Thank you for making the project with me!
