Repairing an Electrical Extension Chord.

Introduction: Repairing an Electrical Extension Chord.

About: Update 12 September 2017: A very special thanks to Sam Elder, a manager here at Instructables, who tracked down the cause of my lost publications and fixed the issue. Take a bow Sam!

The ground pin on this extension broke off. No way I'm gonna let the rest of this extension chord end up in the garbage!

Here is how I fixed it.

Step 1: The New Plug.

This new plug will be the salvation of the chord!

Step 2: Removing the Defective Plug.

OK yeah this is the easiest step of all. Cut! Then dispose.

Step 3: Prepping the Wires.

Half inch of insulation off and all 3 wires are ready. The middle is ground. The others are live and neutral.

Step 4: Installing the New Plug.

Using a Phillips head screwdriver I opened the new plug. Using my multimeter I identified the live wire and connected it to the corresponding plug lug.

Step 5: Completion.

Once the plug was reassembled, the extension chord is now ready for use!
