Introduction: Resize a Coffee Table

I picked up a coffee table that didn't really fit the couch space. I thought about buying a new one, but I notices the table was solidly constructed of hard wood and decided to reshape it.

Step 1: Disassemble

First disassemble the table.

Step 2: Resize Top

Cut a section out of the table top.

Step 3: Resize Aprons

Remove a section from the aprons of the same width as was removed from the table top.

Step 4: Glue

Glue a strip of wood between the sections of table top and apron where the wood was removed.

Step 5: Cut

Remove any excess wood.

Step 6: Remove Finish

Remove the old finish. Use a combination of sanding and card scraping.

Step 7: Shorten the Legs

Remove a desired length from the bottom of the 4 legs.

Step 8: Embellishments

Cut a few strips of wood to attach to the corners of the table top.

Step 9: Reassemble

Secure the structure.

Step 10: Stain

Stain the table.

Step 11: Finish

Apply a finish. I used Danish Oil

Step 12: Floor Protectors

Glue floor protectors to the bottom of each leg.

Step 13: Showcase
