Introduction: Sweet Burger Cupcakes and Fries!

"In the early 19th century, there were two different uses for the name cup cake or cupcake.
In previous centuries, before muffin tins were widely available, the cakes were often baked in individual pottery cups, ramekins, or molds and took their name from the cups they were baked in."

"A burger (also called a beef burger, hamburger sandwich, or hamburg) is a sandwich consisting of one or more cooked patties of ground meat, usually beef, placed inside a sliced bun. Burgers are often served with lettuce, cheese and ketchup."

Cupcakes! Who could live with out them?! Not me, that's for sure. But having said that, who doesn't mind a great burger on the 4th of July, at a party, or even just anytime? That's me again! So I thought, why not combine these two great foods into one?!

And so you have it, the birth of 'Sweet Burger and Fries'

You will need the following:

  • Vanilla cupcakes
  • Sesame seeds
  • Egg white
  • Brownies
  • Pound cake
  • Flaked coconut
  • Green food coloring
  • Red jam/jelly
  • Lemon slices or yellow icing
  • Please read the Instructable before making :)

Step 1: Bake Your Cupcakes!

Pick your favorite vanilla cupcake recipe, follow it as per usual and put the mixture into a well -greased cupcake pan with no liners. Before you pull it out of the oven, have an egg white whisked in a small bowl, a pastry brush and some sesame seeds on hand. When you pull it out of oven brush the tops of the cupcakes immediately with the egg white and sprinkle the sesame seeds on top. This will make the seeds stick to the top of the cupcake. This makes the Burger Bun.

If you don't have a cupcake recipe, try this one :-

Ingredients

150 gm/5 oz butter softened

2/3 cups sugar

3/4 cups self-raising (all-purpose) flour

3 egg beaten

1 tsp vanilla essence

Method

STEP 1 Preheat oven to 180C/350F.

STEP 2 Place all ingredients into a bowl and mix until smooth.

STEP 3 Spoon into cupcake pan.

STEP 4 Bake for 18-20 minutes.

Don't forget to put the sesame seeds on top as soon as the cupcakes come out of the oven!

Once cooled completely (so they won't crumble) cut the cupcake's in half side ways like shown in the photos.

Step 2: Bake Your Favorite Brownie Recipe

Do you have a favorite brownie recipe? If not, here's one to try!

Ingredients

150gm/5oz butter

1 cup brown sugar firmly packed

2 egg

1/2 cups plain flour

1/2 cups cocoa powder

Method

STEP 1 Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

STEP 2 Add eggs one at a time on low speed.

STEP 3 Mix through flour and cocoa.

STEP 4 Bake at 160C/320F for 25-35 minutes.

STEP 5 Allow to cool.

Once it has completely cooled (otherwise it will crumble) measure the size of your cupcakes and find a jar or cookie cutter the same size. Or you could try doing free hand. I used a glass cup. And cut out of the brownie, forming your Meat Patty.

Then go ahead and put it on top of the bottom half of the cupcake!

Step 3: Make the Lettuce

You will need the flaked coconut (or shredded, which will give a different effect), some green food coloring (or make the color green by mixing 2 drops yellow and 1 drop blue) and a bowl. Gloves are optional, if you don't use gloves your hands will be stained green!

Rub the food coloring into the coconut until you are happy with the shade of green.

Place the Lettuce on top of the Meat like shown in the second photo.

Step 4: Sauce Your Cheese!

For the tomato sauce you will need some red jam or jelly, a piping bag, and a medium sized tip (you don't want it too small, otherwise if your jam has seeds, they will get stuck inside the tip, making it very hard to pipe). This is what I used, the 'Superfood Strawberry Vanilla Chia Jam', thanks to health nut for posting that great recipe! Check it out, it works amazing!

Now for the Cheese...there are so many things that you could use, like yellow icing piped on, a yellow piece of candy rolled out flat, or even yellow fondant. But I used sliced lemons (making sure all seeds are out) which gave a really nice flavor through the cupcake!

Pipe the Sauce on top of the 'Lettuce' (in photo 1), then put your Cheese on top of the Sauce! (photo 2)

Step 5: Nearly Finished!

Put the top of your Burger Bun on top of the Cheese and there you have it! A sweet Burger...but what about the Fries??

Okay, so you will need a pound cake recipe. Don't have one? Don't worry, here's one for you, with only two steps!

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

3 cups sugar

2 cups butter, softened

3/4 cup milk

6 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation

1.' Layer Ingredients and Mix.' Preheat oven to 325°F. Place flour, sugar, butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla (in that order) in 4-qt. bowl of a heavy-duty electric stand mixer. Beat at low speed 1 minute, stopping to scrape down sides. Beat at medium speed 2 minutes.

2.'Pour and Bake'. Pour into a greased and floured rectangle pan, and smooth. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until a long wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan to wire rack, and cool completely (about 1 hour).

Cut into any sized Fries you want!

Step 6: Plate It Up!

Put your Burger and Fries on a nice plate.Put some Sauce in a little cup, or a small paper cupcake liner and put it next to your Burger and Fries.

Right there in front of your eyes you have a Sweet Burger and Fries meal ready and waiting to be served at an outdoor party or BBQ!

Or simply eaten right out of the kitchen! :)
