Good work! Too bad it heated up. I have not yet had any problems with heat. Make sure that the wires for the potentiometer are in the correct place and try another pot if possible.
Hi BlackMaya! Right now there's no schematic for the circuit. Hopefully the Instructable-steps could help you understand how to connect the components.
