It's honestly not bad once you get into it, it's just a lot of steps to make it fit the camera and tripod. Hard to say as I was experimenting with it until I got something to work the way I liked, so actually building time maybe 2 hours but in terms of development and CAD work maybe 10-12 hours.
Now that would be ideal to have a foot pedal to control the text!
Thanks!
View Instructable »Absolutely, I made a prototype that was small so it works well with a small camera with just regular glass. The frame was made from just foam board and hotglue and used my phone for displaying the text.

View Instructable »Thanks! On a good set of AA batteries I estimate 36-48 hours. I haven't left them on continuously but I run them on rechargeable batteries. Instead of wiring it to a battery pack, this could be wired to a 5V USB power bank as well.

Thanks, it's was a fun project to research and even better riding it! Just remember that you can't swap in a full pack when the pint battery is drained, or there will be a rush of current from the higher voltage to the lower voltage (discharged) pack. Of course if some how you wire in a switch to disconnect the pint's battery and just ride with Dewalt or external batteries that would work fine. To be able to swap batteries would be awesome, no more waiting for the pint to charge!

Very nice and ingenious. I've made a lot of boards and this one is very unique. The poor mans fiberglass is very interesting.

Made these on the weekend, wow, they are so light and fluffy. I used method 2 with less flour and more shortening, that makes a huge difference IMO. I did a regular glaze and a chocolate glaze. They aren't quite the same as the real thing but I ate 4 of them in one sitting :P. Might be the oil these use to fry them makes a difference too. Thanks for posting, these are my new go to donut recipe. If you are thinking about trying these, do it!

Interesting questions, according to my conversion, it's 1050 meters. 1 Kms lol.

The stoke is always there, I'm sure you can pick it up again! I will be posting the design to Thingiverse for sharing in the coming weeks but it's a lot of work to print. Also I would increase the wall thickness to 1mm. Might add weight but it won't have the divot issue as bad.
Thanks!
I was able to bridge most of the sockets, so they printed fine and was good enough to do the alignment, actually the way you illustrated it in paint, makes sense and would work and could have saved me some time lol. Yeah will have to learn solidworks, adding reinforcements where needed would totally be the way to go. Thanks for taking an interest!

Thank you so much for replying. I have since tried making dough with just the 4 ingredients like you said and I love the difference but I definitely need to work on my technique. I never understood why you put the dough in the fridge but your explanation is excellent! Thanks again for taking the time to reply, hopefully others will see your comment.

Hey, I have shaped with hand planes and spokeshaves, they do work well, just takes a lot longer depending on the amount of material you need to remove. My personal favorite tool is the spokeshave since it can shape concave and convex curves. Never had any experience with drawknives but I know they are good for removing a lot of material at once on round things. I think if you know how to make furniture, a board would be no problem for you.
