3/8 inch works for .177 caliber pellets, nice work on keeping it simple! I will have to make a pair and try it with aluminum for testing. cheers!

Used the forge to finish off a scouting project. We made coins from cans the boys collected. The had a blast.

Similar, using a multi tool, cut from one side, fold top in half, bend remaining into hook, run line between fold, wrap at thin part and finish off. Works for turtles, frogs, bluegill, crappie, and perch.add a bug or additional tab to flavor it or make it flash.

I like this as a fairly high frequency beginning to a shake light or shake charger. The multi point setup would allow for series and parallel arrangements so that you could power a phone or a 12V batt, many nice adaptations available from this idea.

indeed the panels work better when cooler, and water is an easy way to use some of the heat, while efficiency as a water heater is minimal it is handy to have some warm water, and having more power to say use with a 12V pump as a roof rack shower for the kids is great, especially at the beach, camping, or anywhere they may need washed off, like everywhere.

Great use of a reflector, and congrats on keeping the parabolic shape simple. an idea for simplicity would be using a corner shot reflector instead. There is a marginal loss of focused energy with a corner shot over parabolics, but the added simplicity makes for quicker setup and easier maintenance. comparatively a round parabolic dish would have greater advantage for larger applications, like making nachos in the desert. Excellent concepts, keep it up.

I have done this in the past, look at making the top of your hook smaller, and it will be easier to catch something, rather than only monsters. further you can use another pop tab as a spinner or spoon, and a strand of 550 cord guts, run through the spinner, and tied to the head of the hook. this tied to the end of you hiking stick or pop bottle make a decent rig.

The forge aspect is hot, without the base and top, it is a nice portable fire too.

Long story short, start with the latest Raspbian. I spent 2 days using Jessie, and needless to say using old tutorials, so if you attempt this, and I highly recommend you do, as it is a fascinating starter project, Start fresh from the beginning, with the latest version of Raspbian, and all the latest packages of everything. Doing it right from the beginning, took a total of about 3 hours, including setting up the 3.5" pitft touch screen. Then dive into the challenge of making the deep learning code all your own. If you haven't yet, invest in a new RPI3B+ with the WiFi and Bluetooth built in. It makes everything much easier, and has the x64 bit architecture that revolutionizes this $35 pocket PC.
