Yes, But. For pieces going through the saw blade the run with the rollers. The piece that is on the left of the blade I tend to slide left after the cut. The rollers I used allow me to slide on them where rubber wheels might not. Otherwise good idea and you would have bearings

I sold for $4.95 ea .. You would have to buy 100 min on Alibaba.. The larger sizes and flat edges are less expensive than the smaller cutters with a 2 in rad. like Pen State sales for $9.95 ea. I’m a Mechanical Engineer and Carbide with the correct amount of Cobolt is what you look for.. A lot of the Carbide on eBay is from China, and all that I use is from China and they work great.. Again I did a lot of research before I bought the cutters assuring they were selling product with the correct properties. Too hard and they are brittle and break when cutting, to soft and they dull quickly.. Cobolt at the correct amount is key as it bonds the metal together.

I did the same thing. Purchased some from AZ Carbide and they sent a case. I found the same cutters through Alibaba ( eBay of China) ordered 100 and sold 1/2 to a friend..

I’ve turned about 100 pens including ebony, ironwood, maple etc.. and I used 3 cutters.. I am saving them and will sharpen them once I get 10 that need to be sharpened.. I also sold 30 cutters on eBay for $4.95 each so have 100 that we’re paid for.

Thank you. Yes it is interesting. People will buy bags of shredded money and and place in a acrylic bath but they don’t get the density like these blanks. Also I found that the ones I purchased at Woodturningz turn a lot better than other stores as the material does not seem so Brittle, and thus turns better

WOW. I guess I did. It works great, I like having the extra table on the side even without the router. One thing you might benefit with is drilling the holes a bit higher as the holes I had required me to recess the area for the bolts. Any questions please ask. My neighbor has a shop with the 220 3hp and added one as well. My only complaint is based on my garage, the levers for the wheels to move the saw are on the same side so I have to reach under with my foot to push them down.

Everything was sprayed. 2 coats of primer and 2 to 3 coats of paint. There was a lot of sanding and sealing before painting, but no overcoat.

The planks that I chose were 9” wide x 5’ long. See photo of box. The bullnose is a separate piece that is matched to the flooring and about 4” wide and 96” long. The flooring is porcelain tile and 12” x 49”

Thank you and good suggestion on copper pipe. I used the brass for the thick wall but either will work. As far as a flat insert vs slightly rounded, I tend to be able to cut without catching with the rounded insert and struggle with the square bit, although it is a 14 mm vs an 11 mm

Thanks and good comments.Start from the bottom.. For the next 4 tools, I plan to drill first, agree that it will be a lot easier and keep the center true.. I originally planned to drill on the Lathe, so yes I totally agree.On the Brass, I thought the same thing, and with the Carbide Cutter I did trim some, but stopped as the hot brass shavings were gathering on my hand.. I did not want to suggest this and have someone get burned. Plus the file was quick.End gluing is all I do when making pens, and Gorilla Glue is amazingly strong..For this tool, I drilled into the second piece of wood and tapped a SS pin between the 2 halves with Med. CA on it.. I do like the tenon joint idea.. Thank you great comments..

On the tool that I bought, when you tighten the carbide Insert it wants to twist, that is because when they machined it they put a 30 deg angle on it which matches the Insert but let's it ride up on it. Second, the wood that was used is cheap, from China.. Third the metal is lightly chrome plated over bronze..I used Iron Wood and Wild Almond, but exotic woods and both a lot harder. The SS is much harder than Bronze and when I tighten the cutter it does not spin..I have since turned 2 pens with it and like the solid feel and the movement across the tool rest.. So yes this *tool* is better.. Thank you for asking.

Agree. But I was asked to keep the background. If I was paid, I would have spent more time and pulled molding off the web and added. In the end her Mom was happy, and quite honestly that is all that matters.

Based on using this table and knowing that even though I marked and drilled everything on a drill press, they are not "exact" and have had no issues. The metal rollers on the other hand leave marks, especially on softer wood which is why I choose to use wood rollers.. I have had experience with both as we had the rollers in the cabinet shop I worked in.In the end we all have preferences.

Just cheap... :) good luck and spend the time getting it balanced... Before I started the project I read that you need a 1 hp min.. Not the case.. Could not stop the motor when sanding.. Looking forward to seeing the results..
