I've looked at a lot of plans for convertible bench/tables and this is the nicest looking one I've seen. Might have to make one for my porch.

I like the beams on the front porch. Reminds me of a hayrake table.
Its also used increasingly in urban mapping projects for planning and inventory management. The units usually look like a bit of scaffolding on the back of an SUV with a coffee can size thing spinning real fast. That's the sensor. Its really amazing the amount of detail they will collect in the point cloud. The ones carried by planes for topographic mapping are much bigger and mount into a bay in the bottom of the plane the same way aerial photography cameras do. source: Am GIS Analyst for a county government.
