    PVC Kayak Cart

I saw this I project and followed along. However I used 2 inch pvc for the extra strength. I do not have a boat but I do have an ultralight trike that I fly. The wing folds up into a bag about 20 inches in diameter and 22 ft long. It weighs about 250 lbs. yes I can pick it up but moving it anywhere beyond 5 or 6 ft by myself is not going to happen. I eliminated the extra t-fittings as I didn’t need them. Also made the build cheaper. On the ends of the axel tube I used pvc end caps and drilled them out to fit the axel shaft. Note, the whole frame was cut an test fitted first. I used a felt tip pen to Mark each joint and which piece went where. And alignment marks. The end caps that I used for the axel were not glued like the rest of the frame. Here I used stainless steel sheet metal scre…

This being a wear point at some time in the future it will make it easier to replace. It all came out well. I did not use any foam noodles for padding as I did not think I needed it. But rachet straps held everything on the cart. Picked up the other end and away across the taxiway we went. It worked perfect .

Thanks for your build instructions. It inspired me to build one. Though I went to 2 inch pvc. First I don’t have a kayak or boat. But I do have an ultralight trike. The wing folds up into a bag about 20 inches around but it’s 22 ft long and weighs in about 250 lbs. I can pick it up but moving it anywhere is not going to happen without help. Looking at your build I opted for larger tubing for more strength. I also went with a straight axel. I measured as you did and cut pieces first. Then press fit them together to make sure it would all fit. The axel tube has end caps drilled these are the only parts that were not glued on, I press them in place and drilled small holes and put in self tapping sheet metal screws to hold them. This is going to be where the wear will be and this I can take…

This is going to be where the wear will be and this I can take them off to be replaced as needed. I did not put padding on mine... yet not sure I need it. Put the wing on it and strapped it down. Picked up the other end and across the taxi way it went.
