The bluetooth board needs a voltage of anything between 3.6 and 6 to power it (so that it can do it's radio transmitting/receiving job)But you only need to use 3.3v to communicate with it from the Arduino (via the RXD and TXD pins). Anything more than 3.3v on these pins could potentially toast the chip.

It is possible to secure the probe with blu-tack, but it's not as reliable as a steady pair of hands. Mind you, no one said it would be easy !
Finding someone with a keen pair of eyes (or a good pair of specs) is probably the best advice we can give.
View Instructable »We have found it easier to connect the "first four pins" rather than the "first three pins after the first". If you'd rather only use three pins then go for it !
